SHARON JOHNSTON SWIM TEAM
TORNADOS

Provided by Lasting Memories Photography, Hazel Green, (256) 828-0511

Sharon Johnston Swim Team (SJST), a member of the Rocket City Swim League (RCSL), is commonly called a “summer” league, as our swim season is from the end of May until the middle of July when the city meet is held.  There are three divisions (A, B and C) in the RCSL.  The “A” division comprises the highest scoring teams, then “B” and finally “C.”  The points scored at the City Meet places each team in the appropriate division for the next year.

SJST is called the Tornadoes.  We chose this name when a tornado destroyed the Sharon Johnston pool in 1997.

TRACK YOUR SWIMMERS SUCCESS! We have compiled the times for all the meets and events so that parents can keep track of their swimmers times.  Just check back here after each meet to see how your swimmer is succeeding.

2010 Swim Meet Results are now available.

FROM COACH GLENN 6/14/2010

The swim meet this Wednesday is with Redstone and is AT Sharon Johnston.  SJST will warm up at 5:30 pm.  We will me at Kaleidescoops after the meet.

We will have a “Candy Meet” this Saturday AT Monte Sano.  This a “B Meet” with 12 & Unders only, and will not be scored.  Every swimmer may swim all 4 strokes and there will be no relays.  Warm ups at Monte Sano are at 7 am.  Directions are on website.  The meet should be over at 10:30 am.  If you would like to stay and swim at Monte Sano after the meet, you may do so by paying $2 per person at the front desk, and tell them you are “a guest of Glenn Carr.”

Don’t forget, we asking each family to sell one Heat Sheet Ad.  Please go to the website (www.sjst.org) and search for the Heat Sheet at the City Meet, July 10-11.

I am still looking for parents who will swim on the Parents Relays at the City Meet.  We need Moms and Dads who can swim one length of the pool...freestyle.  These fun relays will be between the morning session and afternoon sessions (approx 11 am) on Saturday, July 10th and also on Sunday July 11th.  Please send me an email if you would like to be on a relay.

SUBMIT PICTURES FOR THE WEB SITE

We would like to post pictures of our swimmers having fun and competing during our swim meets.  If you are a parent of a swimmer and would like to post pictures of your swimmer only, you can email them to us and we will share them with the rest of the team.  Please do not send pictures of swimmers who’s parents have not given you permission to send in a picture of their swimmer.  Please include the name, age and swim meet the picture was taken.  We may use the picture as part of the web page!

HEAT SHEET ADS

Parents, you are strongly encouraged to sell at least one Heat Sheet Ad for the City Swim Meet for each swimmer.  These ads are easy to sell and usually include encouraging messages from parents to their swimmers.  There will be no late ads accepted this season, so start now getting your ads together.  Each team gets a portion of the funds collected as part of their yearly fundraising.
