COACHES CORNER 6/13/11

SJST:

We have several upcoming events that you need to note.

(1) SJST Time Trials is Wednesday nite 6-15-11 at Sharon Johnston. Very important. These times will go along way to establishing the A Relays for the City Meet. Warmups at 5:30. Start time for the Time Trials is 6pm. No relays. Just individual events. Everyone may swim all 4 strokes.

(2) Candy Meet at Monte Sano pool is Sat 6-18-11. We will warmup at 7am. Each swimmer may swim all 4 strokes. Ages - 6 & under, 8 & under, 9-10, & 11-12 only. No ribbons. Receive candy after each event that you swim. Directions: From 5-Points take Pratt Ave up Monte Sano Mt (turns to Bankhead Pkwy). At the top of the mt, go right at the first stop sign. Then, left onto Monte Sano Blvd. Go half mile. Turn left onto Mae Dr just before the fire station. At the deadend into Georgetta St, turn right, then thru the gate. (You could also go up Governors Dr, then turn right on Mae Dr.) Once on the mountain, if you get confused, ask anyone.

(3) Invitational Swim Meet at Whitesburg Pool is Sat 6-25-11. All age-groups, plus “Open Age-Group” with 50yd Free and 100yd of each stroke. Each swimmer may swim all four strokes. Cost is $1.00 per swimmer, plus $3 for each entered event. (Swim all 4 events for $13.) Must signup THIS WEEK. Put info and $$ in a sealed envelope with Whitesburg Meet on front of envelope. Drop off at pool this week. You will drop off the front office, or to Volunteer in picnic area. In the envelope, write down swimmers full name, age, and events they wish to swim.

(4) Your City Meet Heat Sheet Ads are due THIS WEEK. Drop off envelope this week at practice. Do NOT forget as this is extremely important.

(5) SJST is 2-0-0 so far this summer. If you want to see results from this summer’s swim meets (including ours), go to www.swimrcsl.org.

SUBMIT PICTURES FOR THE WEB SITE

We would like to post pictures of our swimmers having fun and competing during our swim meets.  If you are a parent of a swimmer and would like to post pictures of your swimmer only, you can email them to us and we will share them with the rest of the team.  Please do not send pictures of swimmers who’s parents have not given you permission to send in a picture of their swimmer.  Please include the name, age and swim meet the picture was taken.  We may use the picture as part of the web page!
